Know Your Power!

People often come to counselling and coaching in times of their lives when they feel powerless and stuck and get the support they need to help them through it.

Do you feel like you have personally hit a brick wall, feel trapped and don’t know how to get out of a situation, relationship or dead end job?

This happens to most of us at some time in our lives for several reasons. It could be you have not been able to resolve a conflict, become bored, uninspired or disillusioned. It could be that you have outgrown an area in your life and don’t have the courage to take the steps you know you need to make right now to move forward and this is worrying you.

It can help to be reminded that you do have power. Just think back to a time when you achieved something that was really important to you. Think of the sheer effort you put into something and how you overcome a difficulty. You do have the power to achieve great things as this quote says you just need to tap into that power:

“Never underestimate the power of dreams and the influence of the human spirit. We are all the same in this notion: The potential for greatness lives within each of us” ~Wilma Rudolph.

So what is greatness?

Greatness is whatever it means to you. I think overcoming an issue that has been causing you distress is greatness. I think taking the brave step to end an unhappy relationship and move on with your life is greatness. I think deciding to make a career change is greatness. I think passing your driving test is greatness. I think choosing to live a happy, healthy life is greatness. I think being as good a person as possible with a clear conscience is greatness. I think showing love and compassion to others is greatness.

We won’t all become world leaders but we can play our part.

I believe life changers are people who live their daily lives as best possible making a difference wherever they can, within their own families, within the jobs they do, activities and friendships they have.

Individual power can be a negative energy when used inappropriately causing harm to ourselves and others while positive energy is individual power used positively for the benefit of ourselves and others.

Know you do have the power to make the changes you wish to make.

Be empowered!!
